Barristers’ rich legacy

This year the Annual Awards & Scholarship Gala was themed “The Best of Being Black, Is yet to Be” as an ode not only to the black lawyers that are a part of the Barristers’ rich legacy, but also to the black lawyers that are to come. The rich legacy of Barristers that served on the Liacouras Commission and the future Barristers that will serve on federal benches, in elected positions, as managing partners and beyond. Surely the adage reigns true, “The best is yet to come”.

The honorees this year highlighted the bright future that lies ahead for the black legal community including a distinguished jurist who has found innovative ways to lead the Trial Division during a pandemic; an organization that educates, invests in, and empowers women in government and civic leadership nationwide and a former Barristers’ president whose mentorship and impact on the organization include providing estate planning at no cost to the black community through The Life Planning Clinic.
