Who can join the Barristers Association of Philadelphia?

Membership is open to attorneys, judges, law students and legal professionals who support the mission of advancing Black lawyers in Philadelphia. You do not need to belong to another bar association first.

When does the membership year run?

The membership year runs from 1 September to 31 August. Every member is on the same cycle rather than renewing on the anniversary of joining.

How do I join or renew my membership?

Complete the membership form on this page and pay your dues. Registering and paying is the whole process. There is no separate approval step and your membership begins immediately.

How much are membership dues?

Dues depend on your membership category. Categories cover law students, attorneys at different stages of practice, public interest and government attorneys, retired members and other legal professionals. The current rate for each category is shown on the membership form on this page.

What does membership include?

Members receive continuing legal education programmes, monthly general body meetings, and access to the signature events of the Association, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast, the Annual Awards and Scholarship Gala, the Golf Classic and the Amber Racine Annual Turkey Drive. Membership also brings networking and mentorship across the Philadelphia legal community.
